Matchbox Twenty's 30th Anniversary Tour Hits Virginia Beach July 3 — With the Wallflowers

Matchbox Twenty just announced the kind of tour that makes you do math about your own age: a massive 2027 North American run celebrating 30 years of Yourself or Someone Like You, the 1996 debut that never really left the radio. And Virginia Beach gets one of the best nights on the whole routing — Saturday, July 3, 2027, at the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater, with The Wallflowers opening.

Read that support bill again. Rob Thomas and Jakob Dylan — the two voices that basically narrated the late '90s — on one stage, on July 3rd weekend, at an outdoor amp. '3AM' into 'One Headlight' as the sun goes down over Virginia Beach. Whoever routed this tour understands assignment.

The details

• When: Saturday, July 3, 2027.
• Where: Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater, Virginia Beach.
• Who: Matchbox Twenty headlining, The Wallflowers supporting (they're on the May 22–July 3 leg).
• Tickets: General on-sale Friday, October 23 at 10 a.m. local. Artist presale Tuesday, October 20 at 5 p.m. (register at matchboxtwenty.com); Spotify presale same day at 10 a.m.
• Why 30: The tour celebrates three decades since Yourself or Someone Like You — 'Push,' '3AM,' 'Real World,' 'Long Day.' You know every word. Don't lie.

The full tour runs April through August 2027 with a rotating cast of openers — All-American Rejects, David Gray, O.A.R., Matt Nathanson — but the Wallflowers stretch is the one. Two bands, one era, zero skips. The VB date sits at the tail end of their run together, which usually means the loosest, most locked-in shows.

The take

Nostalgia tours are a dime a dozen, but this one's different: it's not a legacy act going through the motions, it's two catalogs that actually hold up, outdoors, on the best weekend of the summer. July 3rd. Fireworks-adjacent. Every millennial in the 757 already texting their group chat. See you there — all 20,000 of you.
